Well, it's been a while since we used this community, but I thought I'd post to say that it appears there's an official Japanese Dendoh DVD box set in the works. I checked Hisayuki's homepage (for the first time in a while), and in his diary he mentions being interviewed for it (the interview will be for the insert booklet, and not a video extra).

As long as the price is not insane (a la the Iron Leaguer sets), I'm definitely going in for this. Here's hoping it comes with some special first edition bonuses!

EDIT: Actually, there is a webpage about it after all. November release, 40,000 yen (about $400) for all 38 episodes. I am most of all amused by the giant "FROM THE DIRECTOR OF GUNDAM SEED AND THE CHARACTER DESIGNER OF MAI OTOME" at the top.

I did a little rewatching tonight and decided I was long past due to have this as an icon. I went a little screencap-happy, actually, so I have good icon pictures for the individual girls and others besides, but I liked this one the best.

Mai-HiME episode 2: Featuring Mirai Ginga!

Dammit, Hisayuki, every time I think I'm out, you *drag* *me* *back* *in*...

Not to be outdone by lynxara, I'm posting the scans of the gorgeous linework illustrations from the Dendoh Gaiden (sidestory) that features Altair and Vega's backstory on Arktos. Unlike the illustrations for the retelling novels, these are all done by The Man Hisayuki himself, and I like to think they're pretty neat. Note in particular Zero's first appearence, and Altair's dad Vargo wielding a rather familiar giant sword...

I'd started a translation on the text and got up through the prologue until it got forcibly set aside so I could do things that actually relate to working for real money and stuff. I'll get back to it some day, and may post what I have so far if there's sufficient interest.
